The Department of Material Technology and Production Systems was established on January 1, 2000, as the Department of Production Engineering and Management. On October 1, 2000, it was renamed the Department of Production Systems,
and finally adopted its current name in 2006.
The first head of the department was Prof. Stanisław Pietrowski. In 2012, Prof. Tadeusz Pacyniak took over the leadership, and since October 1, 2021, the department has been headed by Prof. Cezary Rapiejko.
